Our school districts receive state and local recognition for excellence, and college students can earn a world-class education at the many campuses, both public and private, located within the city and the surrounding areas.



Public Schools    Private and Religious Schools   
Bexar County hosts 15 school districts, in addition to the six located in neighboring counties. Magnet schools, part of the public school system, offer an alternative to traditional instruction. Sporting and academic competitions are abound and primarily organized by the University Interscholastic League (UIL).

Fort Sam Houston is growing to include a five-star medical complex – making Fort Sam the world’s largest medical training campus. The Medical Education & Training Campus (METC) will consolidate five major learning facilities and capture the best practices for collaborative learning.
