Employment

With the largest economic development project in San Antonio’s history underway, it’s time for some spring cleaning. In partnership with the Military Transformation Task Force and its committees, the City conducted a study to determine what needs must be met before 10,000 new families venture to the Alamo City.

The study’s results transformed into the Fort Sam Houston Growth Management Plan (FSH-GMP)—the city’s map to becoming the ideal place for military families to prosper.

GROWING STRONGER

The blueprint for San Antonio BRAC is outlined in the final report of the City's Fort Sam Houston Growth Management Plan (FSH-GMP). The plan identifies critical issues associated with BRAC-related growth. Recommendations formed from this report are currently under execution at all levels, focusing on four main areas:

  • Economic Development
  • Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Healthcare Delivery
  • Neighborhood Revitalization

Execution of the GMP was separated into eight tasks:

Task 1 Report Analysis of BRAC Community and Economic Impacts
Task 2 Report San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) Public Transportation (Evaluation of Mass Transit Needs)
Task 3 Report Transportation Infrastructure
Task 4 Report Fort Sam Houston Commercial Revitalization and Reuse of Army Surplus Property
Task 5 Report Fort Sam Houston Sustainable Neighborhood Revitalization & Redevelopment Plan
