BRAC - Around the Fort Testimonials

"My husband and I thought it was time to simplify our lives and make a move from the large home with the big yard. Moving to the Vidorra Tower in Dignowity Hill and living close to downtown has accomplished that. We love being able to walk to restaurants and shops. It is just a short drive now to the AT&T Center for Spurs games and the Rodeo, and we love having dinner and enjoying the entertainment at Ruth's Chris and Majestic Theatre. Keith's drive to work is now just 11 minutes to the office and airport. And on the weekends all we have to do is lock our door and take off – much easier than when we lived in the Hill Country. Living downtown has so much to offer, and we love being able to take advantage of it all and enjoy our new urban lifestyle."

"Clarence and I are retired and were looking for the perfect retirement home. We think we found it. We selected the Vidorra in downtown San Antonio for several reasons. The location is walking distance to the numerous downtown activities – the River Walk, excellent restaurants, shopping and the Alamodome. Buses stop at the doorstep so we never have to worry about parking downtown. The views are quite simply fantastic. The ease of living is to die for; there is a pool and fitness center on site and the facilities are always clean. The building and landscaping are beautiful and well maintained. Other services, too numerous to mention, are taken care of by the concierge. The 24-hour security was an important consideration because we like to travel. We have only been here for a short time, but we already find the neighborhood to be friendly and helpful."

"We recently purchased Kiddie Park because of its long-standing history in San Antonio and all the joy it brings to kids. Kiddie Park currently stands as the original and oldest Kids Amusement Park in the nation. Kiddie Park opened 1925 and has entertained kids with the same classically fun rides since day one. Our goal is to restore the park and re-open during Labor Day weekend. Big plans are also in the works for the Grand Opening event in March.

Restoration plans include renovating the bathrooms and bringing back the popular hand car ride that many locals remember. We will also have the train, the zoo and The Witte Museum right around the corner. Future plans hopefully involve landing a Kiddie Park train stop right near our location.

Our decision to restore Kiddie Park was in large part due to improvements in the Westfort Alliance neighborhood. Brackenridge Park and the real estate along Broadway Street have really developed over the years and continue to expand. All in all we are thrilled to be a part of bringing back Kiddie Park, and we hope to see more people bringing out their kids to enjoy the same rides they once did."

"My husband and I both spent 30 years as army physicians, and recently moved to San Antonio after I retired. We were drawn to San Antonio since it has a reputation as a military-friendly city. All our children are out of the nest and strewn coast to coast. San Antonio is south and central, so all the kids can come to us for cold holidays, and we won't have to deal with shoveling snow.

We bought a condo in Vidorra, and thoroughly enjoy high-rise living. Any time we leave for an extended trip, we can simply shut the door without worrying about a yard or security while we're gone. We can walk to great restaurants, the river, La Villita and the Institute of Texan Cultures, to name a few. Early morning jogs along the river are a real treat. The central location puts us close to all the major roads for easy access to anywhere in the city, and it's a snap to get to the airport. Our view of downtown is stunning, and we're looking forward to city events with fireworks! Although our particular condo is quite spacious, it's also important to us to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible.

Condo living is definitely the right answer for us, and Vidorra's downtown location is grand. We're looking forward to exploring San Antonio and the Hill Country!"

"Location, location, location. My husband and I reside in a live/work unit at Pearl, the historic brewery. To us, it’s city living at its best! We’re within walking distance of many great neighborhood restaurants, and a quick bus ride up Broadway takes us to Central Market for some grocery shopping. The River Walk connects us to the heart of downtown. It’s only about a 30 minute walk. It also acts as a great exercise tool for morning walks or runs in our own ‘backyard.’ Not to mention we live steps away from Saturday’s Pearl Farmers Market, which offers convenient access to local, fresh and seasonal food for us city folk. Since we bike, bus, walk or taxi everywhere, being close to downtown is key. Pearl really is the perfect location for us."
